Within the framework of enhancing awareness of the danger of addiction and ways to prevent it, and supporting security and community efforts in combating the scourge of drugs, the College of Sharia and Law at University of Khor Fakkan in cooperation with the Sharjah Police General Command and the Khor Fakkan major Prosecution, organized an educational forum entitled “Drugs between Reality and the Law,” in the presence of His Excellency Professor Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Shamma’a, Chancellor of the University, and Colonel Dr. Ali Al-Kay Al-Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Province Police Department, along with a number of officers and officials. The forum included a dialogue session moderated by Dr. Khaled Dqqani, Acting Dean of the College of Sharia and Law at the University, during which Colonel Khamis Al Naqbi, Head of the Anti-Narcotics Department for External Areas at the Sharjah Police, participated by presenting methods of drug prevention and how to combat electronic promotion. Dr. Salem Khamis Al Dhanhani, Head of the Khor Fakkan Prosecution, presented an introductory overview of the new drug law and the punishment for using contraband. Captain Ghaya Issa Saif, a psychologist at the Sharjah Private Rehabilitation Center, also discussed the nature of the disease of addiction, the importance of the rehabilitation center, and the main role it plays in rehabilitating addicts. The forum included an exhibition to simulate the crime scene organized by the Crime Scene Department at the Sharjah Police General Headquarters to introduce students to the methods of detecting evidence and the investigation mechanism, in addition to a live presentation of the skills of police dogs and the most important methods of security inspection, and the forum was attended by the Vice chancellors, deans of colleges, directors of departments, a number of faculty, administrative staff and university students.
