UKF HOSTS A POETRY READINGS PROGRAM

In the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, and with the aim of promoting Arab culture and its ancient poetic heritage, University of Khorfakkan hosted poet Musabah Al Kaabi within the poetry readings program organized by the Department of Culture in the Eastern Region, in a distinguished poetry session attended by His Excellency Prof. Ahmed Al-Shammaa, Chancellor of the University, and His Excellency Muhammad Saleh Al-Suwaiji, Director of Department of Culture in the Eastern Region, along with a large group of managers and employees of institutions and governmental entities in the region, and a number of faculty and administrative staff and university students. The program included a dialogue session moderated by Mr. Abdullah Ahmed from the Department, and discussed the literary importance of Nabati poetry in the Emirati heritage inherent among members of society, the basics of its structure, content and social function, the most important topics it addresses and its types, in addition to the main skills and characteristics that a successful Nabati poet must have, and the importance of preserving the national identity and the ancient folk heritage in poetic writings while keeping pace with cultural and cognitive development.
