University of Khorfakkan and Emirates Libraries Association Enhance Academic and Professional Collaboration

University of Khorfakkan has signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Libraries and Information Association on the sidelines of the Second Emirati Libraries Forum, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two parties. The agreement seeks to contribute to the development of concepts and services related to the libraries and information sector, enhance the competencies of professionals working in the field, and expand access to knowledge resources in line with international best practices and standards. The agreement was signed by Mr. Fahd Al Maamari, Chairman of the Board of the Emirates Libraries and Information Association, and Dr. Saif Al Naqbi, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs. The agreement covers several areas of collaboration, including coordinating community programs, organizing specialized events such as conferences, workshops, and training programs, providing professional consultancy, strengthening presence in regional and international bodies, supporting the collection and accessibility of reliable data, and developing library services offered to the community. This partnership aligns with the mission of both parties to support knowledge-based societies, enhance cultural awareness, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Saif Al Naqbi stated that the agreement comes within the framework of the University’s strategy to expand its partnerships with specialized professional institutions, in a manner that serves students, researchers, and the wider community, and supports the development of academic and training programs related to the libraries and information sector. He emphasized that the University places particular importance on supporting initiatives that promote cultural and knowledge awareness, align with international standards, and contribute to community service and sustainable development goals. For his part, Mr. Fahd Al Maamari affirmed that the signing of the agreement reflects the Association’s commitment to building effective strategic partnerships with national academic institutions, contributing to the development of the libraries and information sector, enhancing the exchange of expertise, and preparing qualified professionals capable of keeping pace with the rapid transformations in this vital field. He noted that cooperation with University of Khorfakkan represents a valuable addition to the Association’s journey, particularly in the areas of training and professional development, community initiatives, and research related to libraries and information.
