UKF HOSTS THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON DISABILITY AND ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Khorfakkan, and in the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, the 8th edition of the Khorfakkan International Scientific Conference on Disability and Adapted Physical Education commenced at the University of Khorfakkan (UKF).
The conference is organized by Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, in collaboration with the Academy of Sports Science Research and Development (DRASAA), and supported by Sharjah Sports Council, under the theme: “Sustainable Physical Activity and Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities.”
The event brought together a distinguished gathering of high-profile figures, representatives of government, academic, and sports institutions, as well as experts, researchers, and specialists from around the world. Their presence underscores the conference’s standing as an international scientific platform dedicated to advancing practices and applied research in the fields of physical education, health, and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities.
Over the course of two days, the conference featured a rich program of scientific sessions and practical workshops, addressing key themes such as:
• Inclusive physical education and assistive technologies.
• The importance of psychological support and youth empowerment for persons with disabilities.
• Specialized sessions on preparing professionals to enhance recreational sports quality in universities.
• Innovative technologies to improve athletic performance among disabled athletes.
• Presentation of the latest research and studies on adapted physical activity and supportive technologies for athletes with disabilities.
The convening of this conference in its new edition reaffirms Sharjah’s commitment to supporting the cause of persons with disabilities through pioneering initiatives and leading scientific conferences. It also highlights the UAE’s position as a global model in promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities through sports and scientific research.
